A Message for the Day : Understand Correctly

Understand correctlyUnderstanding is the key in many aspects of life. Most of the conflicts happen in this world are due to misunderstanding. When it comes to philosophies we ensure that we get the right sense of it. Else it would end up in an absolute mess.

Once a Sage advised his disciples “All the living beings on this earth are a form of God. So you should learn to respect one another mutually and listen to them. All disciples observed his words so obediently and owed to follow his advice in their life.

After a few days, when a disciple was in a pursuit to bring some firewood from a nearby forest, he heard people screaming and running around. A man shouted “Please run away, hide somewhere, an elephant gone amok and it is nearing us. Run! Run!”

Everyone found a spot to hide, some climbed up the tall trees and some went into the bushes. This disciple was a lonely man seemed not to bother about the situation. A man from a tree shouted at him “Run away and hide! Why are you standing like this?”

He calmly replied “Why should I move? Run?, I know all living beings are a form of God. So as the Elephant!” He stood still.

The mad elephant appeared in his sight. “What is your problem?” he asked the elephant and started to sing some hymn.

“Idiot, Run Away” a few people screamed again from atop the trees.  He didn’t bother to move. The beast curled him with its trunk, lifted him up and thrown him into a spiny bush. His lucky day he survived as the elephant moved away.

But he paid the price for his madness, with severe wounds. He limped back to the ashram and went straight away to his master. He told everything happened there.

“You said once all living beings are a form of god, then why that Elephant hurt me, when I was singing a hymn for him? I am also a living being- a form of god right? So how can the elephant hurt me?” he asked the sage with narrow sense.

The Sage replied “That’s right, you too a form of god, so also the elephant, but why haven’t you listened to the words of fellow gods in human forms right atop the trees, who warned you to Run Away!?”

The disciple blinked and realized that he misunderstood the philosophy.

This is a fable to explain the importance of understanding the concepts of philosophies and religions correctly. Sometimes in real life, there are more interesting things of misunderstanding happens.

Once at a rehabilitation camp a doctor dropped a worm in a glass of alcohol and asked “What happened to the worm now?”

A participant replied “It’s Dead”

“So What you understand from this?” asked the doctor.

“We can kill all harmful worms in our stomach and intestines, if we drink alcohol regularly!!!” he replied confidently.

Thereafter the doctor never used this example! 🙂 🙂

Hope you understand the importance of understanding the things in a right sense! 🙂

A Message for the Day : Children are Curious

Story : Misunderstanding happens…

The train is over crowded and cursed my fate for getting into this compartment. People are pushing each other, hardly I could stand on two legs. My age too a factor, I am in my 50s.

To add further annoyance one fellow in his early twenties I guess, keep poking me with his elbow on the pretext of texting on his mobile. “Excuse me” but he seems not to listen to me or bother about me. At times he tries his luck to peek a view of a girl at the other end of the compartment (ladies side) by leaning against me; that girl too is looking at this chap. Think she’s to replying him, I could sense from the similar reactions on their faces.

I want to advise him to resume his texting after getting down from the train. I cannot avoid but his big mobile screen is flashing on my face. “Get down at the next stop dear…”  ‘Delivered to Payal’ beeped the mobile. I am giving a breath of relief that this annoying fellow will get down finally.

The train is slowing down, that girl is getting ready to get down. This chap as a final note, pushing me side wards to get down. “Idiot!” I yelled at him. He is looking directly into my eyes. “What?” I asked a bit annoyed. He is searching for something in his pockets, by now the train stopped.

He took his mobile out, typed something and shown to me. I have no words or expressions how to react to it. He typed “I am sorry sir” and he got down. I have seen the girl joining him with a smile, holding each others hand. They are communicating something in sign language. Their eyes turned towards my direction searching me.

With no clue of how to react I offered a smile, He again said “Sorry” in sign language by pointing his hand towards his heart and smiled back. The train is moving again, with my glued eyes till they disappear from my sight.

Story : Perfection is a myth in any Relationship : Learn to accept as well as change.

This is a must read story for everyone. It’s a worthy read. Do not forget to share with your friends if you like this 🙂 (use the social icons below)

There lived two good friends and others always find them inseparable. They hardly misunderstood each other, even if anything occurs they solve it immediately and move on happy for the next day.

“I read in a magazine, a while ago, about how we can strengthen our friendship.” the first friend said. “Each of us will write a list of the things that we find a bit annoying with the other person. Then, we can talk about how we can fix them together and make our lives happier together.”

The other friend agreed, so each of them went to a separate room in the house and thought of the things that annoyed them about the other. They thought about this question for the rest of the day and wrote down what they came up with.

The next morning,  they decided that they would go over their lists.

“I’ll start,” the first friend took out the list.

It had many items on it enough to fill 3 pages, in fact. As the first friend started started reading the list of the little annoyances, the tears were starting to appear in the second friend’s eyes.

“What’s wrong?” asked the first.

“Nothing” the second one replied, “keep reading your lists.” The first one continued to read all three pages and said “I am done, Now, you read your list and then we’ll talk about the things on both of our lists.” happily.

perfectionQuietly the second friend stated,“I don’t have anything on my list. I think that you are perfect the way that you are. I don’t want you to change anything for me. You are true, lovely and wonderful and I wouldn’t want to try and change anything about you.”

The first one, touched by the honesty and the depth of the love and acceptance. Later realized what is true companionship and changed the bad attitude of seeing the negatives and started appreciating the positives.

Even the second friend, valued the feedbacks and changed many things which are really the facts.

The moral is this could not be only between friends, it could be between kids and parents too, especially between husband and wife mostly applicable.

Misunderstandings are so common among relationships. If we truly value the relationship, we should be able to accept as well as change certain things in ourselves. Also if we try to accept as whole as possible we can reduce the conflicts.

Note: In order to maintain a gender equality we kept the total story in a neutral way suiting any two persons of any gender.

Story : Being Good and Brave

Cobra is considered as sacred according to Hindu Religion…

The Cobra Snake

The Cobra Snake

Once a Cobra went to a saint and asked him “why people are feared of me so much and try to kill me whenever they see me. Nobody sees me a good soul. What should I do? I am worried.”

The saint said “Here after do not bite people if you see them, that’s why they hate you!”. The snake promised and went.

After a few days the snake returned again and said “Look as you said I stopped biting them, even though they are trying to kill me whenever they see me. I ran here for my life”

The saint said “I just to you not to bite, but never said you should not hiss bravely, if you did that they would have taken a step back and left you”

The snake realized its misunderstanding.

Moral : You can be a good soul, but it does not mean you should remain a coward. BE BRAVE.
