Scribbling of the Day : Homeless Birds

Bird's home

A new Villa, a new dawn
His day started
with a lemon tea
and the fragrance of the mist.

There came a guest
He felt the poet in him
“Do you have a home?”
he inquired within.

“Look!” gestured
his guest flapped the wings
and began flying high to show
it’s little home – Earth!

His Villa
shrunk little as a hut.

A Secret about God, Religions and Virtues

water-with-sunlightI wish to share a secret with you, that I have learned in my spiritual exploration.

Your character and love towards everyone should invite people to ask curiously “What is the secret?”. Your answer can be any like Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism or any faith, even Atheism can be your answer.

What is the real secret here? Your Faith or your Virtues?

In fact, your virtues are the secret of your Faith that you’ve chosen to believe. 🙂

It is like keeping a precious jewel in a safe box. Without the box, the jewel would be lost, without the jewel, the box would be regarded worthless. Your faith is the safe box and your virtues are the jewels.

Regardless of whatever the safe box/religions you have, the jewels/virtues remain the same. God has all the virtues and needs no safe box like we need. Now this is the bigger secret one can understand at higher level of spiritual enlightenment.

So, value people based on their virtues, not on the basis of their religion. Respect their choice and freedom, they are free souls just like you and me.

Ten Qualities, God Brings In You

God 10 qualities

Many of us do believe in God. We pray. People go to temples, churches, mosques and many places of worships to see God. Yet it is a well-known fact that every theist would agree that God is everywhere, yet we have some psychological reasons to go to a particular place of worship and pray our God. Why everyone pray? is a separate topic of discussion. But does everyone really feel God? Does everyone follow God? If you say ‘Yes’ you know it well that is a lie.

There are millions of human beings who claim to be believers and followers of God, but they never possess the qualities. When you are truly in a relationship with God, you would have as many of these 10 qualities in you.

1. Loss of Ego

A man who believes in a supreme power God, he naturally loses his self-centered Ego and become selfless.

2. Love All

When God’s presence is there in a man, he will love everyone. They never build hatred in the soul.

3. Never Judge anyone

It follows a sequence, when love comes in unconditional on fellow humans, we never judge anyone. Man who believes in God knows that he has no authority to say someone is right or wrong. Man may perceive, but can never judge.

4. Forgiveness

If someone hurts us, forgiveness is an important quality of God which we should follow. Hurting them back is cinema culture to take revenge, not the sign of God.

5. Acceptance

Change happens as life moves on. Some call it karma, some call it fate, some call it law of attraction. But accepting things as it happens in life, without complaining or whimpering over others can only be possible with God’s support.

6. Happiness

When we accept things as it is, there is no reason to worry at all. Godliness is a bliss.

7. Fearless

Of course, there exists evil in this world. I am not telling about the flying blood oozing demons. But evil thoughts in human minds and thus changed evil humans. God gives fearlessness to fight both the evil thoughts and evil humans, but without breaking the qualities of God.

8. Righteous

Many may recommend you to win bad by another bad stuff. Violence by violence. But righteous soul knew that we could never bring a permanent justice, by a wrong action. God is always righteous.

9. Mindfulness

Higher level of spiritual realization will lead to mindfulness of understanding everything that happens around in a holistic way. Mind will be openly seeing the bigger picture of God and ignores the petty issues people do in the name of religions and customs. Not just about God but the perspective of whole life will change.

10. Non-attachment

The last and the most matured quality that God can bring in us is getting unattached to the worldly stuffs. Of course, only a very few geniuses can reach this stage and reached this stage before. If not in practice level, at least we can bring it to the realization level. As all paths to god say this unanimously, we own nothing in this world! Not even our very own soul which resides in our body. Just we all have a purpose, so we exist and evolve in a mystic journey called Life.

Many of the Atheists also will have these qualities and stay as a good human being. They are comfortable in calling that as high-level of intelligence and some will call it Godliness.

Know : Ramzan / Ramadan

Happy Ramzan to all Muslim Brothers and Sisters across the globe. Let us pray the God for peace, love and harmony to all religions, communities and nationalities with mutual respect. Whatever the differences we may have, God has already united us as human beings. We may have chosen different paths, different names, but God is always One.

Ramzan is the ninth month according to Islamic Lunar calendar. Ramzan (written as Ramadan) is derived from the Arabic root word ‘ramida’ or ‘arramad’ that means intense scorching heat and dryness, especially of the ground. Ramadan is so called to indicate the heating sensation in the stomach as a result of thirst. Others said it is so called because Ramadan scorches out the sins as it burns the ground. Some said it is so called because the hearts and souls are more readily receptive to the admonition and remembrance of Allah during Ramadan, as the sand and stones are receptive to the sun’s heat.

Ramadan begins after the month of Shaban, after the new moon has been sighted. In case new moon is not sighted then after 30 days of Shaban, Ramadan begins. The month of Ramadan lasts for 29 or 30 days depending on the sighting of the moon. If the moon is sighted on the night of 29th fast then the month of Shawwal begins from tomorrow and Ramadan is over. The 1st of Shawwal is the Eid also know as Eid-ul-fitr to distinguish it from Eid-ul-azha (Bakri Eid).

Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed. The Quran clearly says “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you many learn piety and rightousness” – Al Baqarah, 2:183. Fasting is to be done by all able bodied men and women and children who have reached puberty. If a person is sick or has some medical reason or if a women is pregnant then they are waived from fasting.

During Ramadan the people who fast are not allowed to eat or drink anything (including water) from dawn to after sunset. Also one has to restrain other body parts, which may render the fast worthless despite the main factor of hunger and thirst; so the tongue,

for instance, must avoid backbiting, slander, and lies; the eyes should avoid looking into things considered by the Lawgiver as unlawful; the ears must stop from listening to conversation, words, songs, and lyrics that spoil the spirit of fasting; and finally restraining of the heart, and mind from indulging, themselves in other things besides zikr or Allah (remembrance of Allah).

Also when one is fasting and feels hunger and thirst he has to remember other people in the world who do not have food and water. Charity is one of the extremely recommended acts during fasting. Muslims are required to give minimum of 2.5% of their annual savings as charity to poor and needy people. Also there are various sayings of the prophet (pbuh) where he has said that any charity made in Ramadan is multiplied upto 70 times. If some people are poor and cannot afford to give money then even a smile is an act of charity.

In recent years lot of research has been done about the medical benifits of Ramadan. The physiological effect of fasting includes lower of blood sugar, lowering of cholesterol and lowering of the systolic blood pressure. In fact, Ramadan fasting would be an ideal recommendation for treatment of mild to moderate, stable, non-insulin diabetes, obesity and essential hypertension. There are psychological effects of fasting as well. There is a peace and tranquility for those who fast during the month of Ramadan. Personal hostility is at a minimum, and the crime rate decreases. Muslims take advice from the Prophet who said, “If one slanders you or aggresses against you, say I am fasting.'” This psychological improvement could be related to better stabilization of blood glucose during fasting as hypoglycemia after eating, aggravates behavior changes. There is a beneficial effect of extra prayer at night. This not only helps with better utilization of food but also helps in output. There are 10 extra calories output for each rikat of the prayer. Again, we do not do prayers for exercise, but a mild movement of the joints with extra calorie utilization is a better form of exercise. Similarly, recitation of the Quran not only produces a tranquility of heart and mind, but improves the memory. There is a beneficial effect of extra prayer at night. Some people think that one month of fasting is too much while others feel that its only one month where they can get their sins forgiven and get their rewards increased. May Allah bless us all and forgive all our sins and make us good Muslims and good human beings.

God is far beyond Religions: The way I see…

spiritual journey

You can understand your God Spiritually, only when you abandon the attachment to your religion. One can follow any religion to explore God, but if you do not follow the virtues of God. Then you are just religious…

In this article I tried to explain my spiritual journey, the questions I asked myself and the answers I found. With no bias, with no hatred, just a logical sequence of thoughts.

Well known, ultimate truths about religions

Whatever the religion one may follow, they do because they believe in God that religion claims as a super power.

At deeper level of thoughts it is clear that religion is just a name of the path, to reach the God.

All religions preach some values, morals, practices and procedures, which indeed are purely based on cultures that had developed in the particular regions. Culture and Religion grown together.

Culture and Religion

Culture is nothing but the way of living, as we know, we all have different cultures. We knew a little history which no one need to explain us or teach us. That history is our life time. We witness things by our very own senses and understand. So think how was your religion and the culture associated, when you were a child and now? You can obviously see some changes.

Yesterday’s taboo have got acceptance and today it is ok. I think you can find any example easily for this.

Change changes Everything, so as religion

Look at how man interpreted God, be it any religion. From most feared mythical figure to least bothered superstitious statue, we have given various importance to God. Religion also got so many changes from its original version, we consistently revived the religious terms based on the social acceptance and released advanced versions of religions, just like a software program. Example : Look at your own religions and sub faiths you have in that.

What Changes religion?

Nothing but the human compatibility. Yes. On the stone age, the expectation of a human being is just to eat food and to survive. But we are the only species which has been evolving continuously at thoughts. So those days the food source might be regarded as a gods, then our predators, then the protectors might be regarded as gods, later we seen humans as god, with extra abilities.

All are just predictions we cannot surely say which history of our religions is the truth, but the changes that had occur were undeniable. The changes the happened to the religions are undeniable truth.

Unreliable History

Think of a news that you see today, or a data. Can you assure 100% reliability on everything? Even the Science could only predict certain things. So that’s the reason why people still fight over religions, because there is no concrete proof to support their stand. All religious followers have chosen to believe in something. Nothing wrong with their beliefs, but the problems had began, when one’s belief tried to suppress others’ belief. When people tried to dominate one over another, they used the religion as a tool.

God Vs Religion

Religion is explainable. But God is not. You all agree this, though we have statues, mosques, churches, temples, idols, etc to worship god, when it comes to the question of feeling god – we all will be unanimous and say God can be felt, cannot be shown as we do in movie graphics. Back in history they had no HD cameras, so they sculptured God, written texts about God and believed that is the best way they can explain god. Named the faith with a religion’s name.

Deeper, It is all about feeling the God. But people tried to explain god via religion that has caused problems which we have not solved till date.

Spiritual Understanding

When people talk about spiritual but not religious, others may look at them like “oh here comes a meditation master from a Bodhi Tree District!” 🙂 No, it is not that complex to understand spirituality, when we feel about our relationship with another human, we may call it as love, caring, parenting, etc.

Same goes as Spiritual when we start to feel about God. One person can be spiritual only if he is not attached to any religions or any worldly things.

The major decision is whether you choose to believe in God or not is the first step, then exploring various faiths can make you understand the virtues of God, this is step two. Step three, you will realize all the faiths has the same values and characteristic of God.

Then the final step, when you try to be like God or follow the virtues of God, then you are spiritual being.

Why we need to understand something with so much complexity:

Because we have made it so complex. At our origin, we humans are not supposed to struggle like this, for example, to invent something like nuclear weapons and fight against it. We carve for more, we are addicted to selfishness.

Simply we attach ourselves to things and struggle to detach from that. We spend our whole life battling these attachments. Now our social system is built and strongly based on such attachments.

We just had one earth to live in harmony with all living beings. Look at where are we now? we have countries, borders, rules, weapons to kill one another, and what else is not there to complicate life? So un-tieing all these and going back to understanding God in a spiritual sense is just difficult only because we made it look difficult.

Keep it Simple

I hope you will accept everything in the earth serves for a purpose, lives for a purpose. Tree helps birds, they help trees, forests give rains, rains help oceans, oceans help fishes, the cycle goes round and round.

So believe, the system of Universe also has a purpose. Mars has its purpose, the Sun has, Jupiter has, A distant meteor has a purpose too. Don’t you believe? Why the planets should abide by some laws to revolve the Sun without clashing one another? Why the moon is kept at a distance, supporting life on earth?

Science can explain all these as how it works? but cannot tell why it works? That’s what I feel as the Universal Purpose.

Now if you see, religion looks so tiny in the large scale of the universe. Religions are myth. Religions are man made. Religions are imaginary stuff.

So, if we can understand this. Life will be so meaningful and pleasant, not only for us but also for the rest of the living beings.

You can understand your God Spiritually, only when you abandon the attachment to your religion. One can follow any religion to explore God, but if you do not follow the virtues of God. Then you are still religious.

Note: Whatever, i have tried to communicate here are my own understandings of God, I neither tried to convince you to accept it nor speak against your faith. Please do your own thinking, taking these points as some insights.
